Domestic Violence Support
Have you or are you currently experiencing domestic violence and want some support and guidance? Can we help?
‘My Sister’s Place’ is a specialist women’s advice centre staffed with an all female team, who can give you information and both practical and emotional support. All of our staff have been trained in domestic violence and understand the issues and concerns of women who are living in, contemplating leaving or who have left an abusive relationship. We know that historically a woman can approach up to ten different agencies for advice and support and ‘My Sister’s Place’ aim to reduce the stress and difficulties this can bring by being a ‘one-stop’ shop and providing access to all appropriate agencies.
We operate on an appointment basis but do have a drop-in service and run a Friday morning surgery with one of our dedicated volunteers in which women are invited to discuss any issues informally. Appointments usually last around 40 minutes to an hour.
The staff at ‘My Sister’s Place’ can support you through a range of needs around the domestic violence you have/are suffering and can attend multi-agency meetings with you, to ensure that your voice is heard. We can also refer you to other services which may be of benefit to you such as the Sanctuary Scheme or the Freedom Programme. We have developed good working partnerships with many agencies within Middlesbrough and can offer support to all women regardless of your culture, faith or sexuality.
