Victim Support is an independent national charity. Trained volunteers based in local schemes contact people following a crime to offer free, confidential support and advice. People are referred to Victim Support by the Police or other organisations, or make direct contact themselves to ask for help. Victim Support aims to offer a comprehensive service to all sections of the community and is committed to ensuring that minority and disadvantaged groups are welcomed and involved throughout the organisation. Victim Support works for the rights of victims and their families and for the greater awareness of the effects of crime. Victim Support Plus is a new service launched on April 1st 2008 that aims to provide a more comprehensive service to victims of crime. This 8am -8pm Mon – Fri service operates as a main referral point and is staffed by fully trained Victim Care Officers who will welcome your call and seek to put appropriate support in place for you at the earliest opportunity. | |||
