DOTS – Disability Outreach Therapy Service

‘Opening the door to therapy in your home’

The Disability Outreach Therapy Service – DOTS,  is part of My Sisters Place Counselling and Therapeutic Services and is for women and male survivors aged 16 years and over who may face significant challenges in leaving their homes to access our main service.

DOTS offers women and male survivors who have experienced and or witnessed domestic abuse up to 8 free and confidential 1 to 1 counselling sessions in their home. Click here to find out more about how counselling can support recovery from abuse.

To access you must be:

16 years and over.

In receipt of Personal Independence Payments.

Not currently engaged in an abusive relationship.

Live within Middlesbrough TS1, TS2, TS3, TS4, TS5, TS6, TS7, TS8 and TS9 postcodes.

How can I be referred to DOTS?

Referrals can only be made on your behalf by your GP, Community Mental Health Teams, Health Visitors, Occupational Health, Social Services, other Statutory or Voluntary Sector Agencies or Disability Support Services/Organisations.

What happens once the referral has been made?

Once we have received your referral we will contact you to arrange to come to your home and carry out an assessment.

What happens at the assessment?

The assessment lasts for approximately 30 minutes and gives you the opportunity to discuss your expectations of therapy and ask any questions you might have about counselling.  We will take time to explain the types of therapy available, matters regarding confidentiality together with information relating to the number of sessions and how long you can access.  There is no obligation to continue after this session, you can take time to think about it before you decide.
