URGENT – COVID- 19 SERVICE CHANGES – last updated 8th January 2021

In light of the Government announcement last night ( 4th January), the new strain of the virus and current uncertainty over the transmissibility of this, as well as the safety of staff and beneficiaries, we have taken the decision to return to remote working arrangements and close our building at 123 Borough Road today. We will be reviewing this decision as advice changes and is updated and we want to reassure anyone needing our services that we are still here. If you had an appointment arranged, you will be contacted directly regarding this.

Anyone needing advice or support around domestic abuse can contact is in the following ways:

01642 241864  – 9am -5pm

0787332137 – 9am – 5pm

As the Prime Minister said himself in his address yesterday, domestic abuse is a legitimate reason to leave your house on Lockdown.  There is help available and domestic abuse is never ok- the pandemic does not excuse violence, coercion or control from those around you.

IMPORTANT NOTICE- AS AT 25th MARCH

At My Sisters Place, we are keeping a close eye on events and as I am sure you can appreciate this is a constantly evolving picture.

In light of the recent Government update ( Monday 23rd March) announcing ’lockdown’, My Sisters Place has closed to all face to face visitors and employees. It is important that we uphold this so as to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus.

We are still here- albeit remotely- and we want to ensure that we are able to continue to offer services. As of Wednesday 25th March all of our staff are at work, remotely, and providing support to women affected by domestic abuse in our area. We are contactable on phone, email and via Facebook messaging.

This means our drop in service is suspended until further notice.

IF YOU ARE IN DANGER- PLEASE CALL 999 AND ASK FOR THE POLICE.

FUNDRAISING

We are in close contact with our partners and stakeholders and will update on social media and email where appropriate.

Our work does not stop and we are still supporting, advising and advocating for our women and their families. To this end, and especially as we are expecting fundraising events to be adversely affected in the months ahead, we urge you to still consider supporting us as our income requirements remain the same- in fact women who are already vulnerable and isolated face even more difficult times.

We are asking that people do NOT drop donations in at this time and until further notice. If you would like to donate, please consider an online donation via Virgin Money Giving https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/finalCharityHomepage.action?charityId=1006754

COMMUNITY

Our community is brilliant. Please keep looking out for each other and remember that isolation due to illness or the current recommendations may be very difficult for women affected by abuse.

Thank you for your support, thanks for helping a small charity make a big difference.
