Our reception team will answer your call or message and make sure the right support worker gets back to you. If it’s urgent, they will transfer your call so you can get help straight away.
One of our trained domestic abuse workers will talk with you about what’s happening, explain your choices, and tell you about the support that can help you.
We’ll ask you some questions to understand your situation and find the best way to help. You don’t have to tell us anything you’re not ready to share.
We’ll help you look at your options, but we won’t tell you what to choose. You’re the one in control.
It can be hard to know what you need. You can talk to us privately about your situation, and we’ll go through some options together. You don’t have to share anything you’re not ready to, and there’s no pressure to make decisions right away.
We’ll work with you at your own pace and help you take the steps you choose.
We offer one-to-one support with things like safety planning, housing, legal issues, health, children’s services, money, and immigration.
If you need urgent help, we can act quickly to keep you safe.
You have the right to get the support you need. We can speak up for you with other services, such as the courts, social services, housing or the police.
You don’t have to face this alone, we are here to help you find your way forward.
Domestic abuse can affect children and young people, even if they don’t see or hear it happening. It can be confusing and hard to understand, and sometimes they need extra support.
Every child is different, and living with domestic abuse can affect each one in their own way.
We offer free, confidential one-to-one counselling for anyone aged 16 and over who has been affected by abuse in any way. Our counsellors are trauma-informed, which means they understand how abuse can affect you both physically and emotionally.
We also support adults who experienced or witnessed abuse as a child, as an adult, or both.
If you’d like to know more about counselling and how it could help you, please get in touch with us.
We run group sessions where survivors can learn more about their experiences and begin to make sense of what has happened. These groups are safe spaces to share, connect with others who have been through similar things, and build lasting friendships.
Abuse can cause people to feel alone or lose confidence, but being part of a group helps you see that you’re not on your own. The abuse was not your fault, the only person responsible is the perpetrator.
All of our services are free and confidential. When you first access support from My Sister’s Place, we will explain how our confidentiality policy works.
We will not share your personal details or any information that could identify you without your permission. The only times we might need to share information are if we believe someone is at risk of harm such as a child, young person, or adult or if the law requires us to do so.
Whenever possible, we will let you know before we share any information with another agency.
